About this event

  • 4 hours

As an adoptee, you have a unique story to tell! That story may be a fuzzy feeling, written on a scrap of paper, or detailed in a lengthy manuscript. No matter where you’re at, this is an opportunity to take a step forward in embracing your truth while surrounded by other adoptees.

The Young Adult/Adult Adoptees - Madison Area WI Meetup Group is hosting the Mad City Story Slam for a FREE storytelling workshop at the Goodman Community Center (Ironworks Building, Bolz Room A), followed by a free meal sponsored by the Wisconsin Family Connections Center & Jockey Being Family. The workshop will cover everything from finding your story to crafting the beats. Attendees will get a chance to create community with other adoptees by exploring their stories and having the opportunity to voluntarily share with the group.

This event is specifically for people that are adopted and identify as adoptees. If you are an adoptee and also identify as another part of the adoption triad, please know that you are welcome to attend as long as you are comfortable centering your adoptee experience specifically.

Agenda:

  • Doors open 1:30pm
  • Workshop starts 2pm
  • Dinner served 5pm
  • Event spaces close 7pm

Pre-registration for catering numbers is appreciated but not required.
